5 Rhythm Dance
1st and 3rd Sunday / Monthly
12:00PM - 1:30PM
Join us for a night of 5RHYTHMS Dance and movement with Certified Instructor Mark Bonder. Created by Gabrielle Roth, 5RHYTHMS is a dynamic movement practice rooted in the principle that if you put the psyche in motion it will heal itself.
There's no choreography, no steps to learn, only the freedom to move the way you feel!
Welcome to the 5Rhythms® The Movement Practice of Gabrielle Roth
What are the 5Rhythms? The 5Rhythms are a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in everybody, no matter what its shape, size, age, limitations and experience. To find your dance is to find yourself, at your most fluid and creative level. While the practice itself is the essence of simplicity, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: if you put the psyche in motion, it will heal itself.
The five rhythms are flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. They come together to create the Wave, a movement meditation practice. Rather than having steps to follow, each rhythm is a different energy field in which you find your own expression and choreography, thereby stretching your imagination as well as your body. Each rhythm is a teacher and you can expect to meet different and sometimes unknown aspects of yourself as your dance unfolds and your practice of the rhythms deepens over time.
What happens on the dance floor? In every class or workshop, there is always a wide range of experience in the 5Rhythms work, from first-timers to certified Wave addicts. In any given class, the teacher will be following the energy in the room. So, while the essential map is one of the rhythms, the teacher might take the class through the entire Wave or focus on just one rhythm or one facet of a rhythm.
The rhythms themselves are gateways to literally thousands of different movement landscapes. Like the body, they are alive and designed to catalyze the dancer’s movement expression in the moment. You are different every time you walk in the room, so is the group and so is your teacher. Therefore, each class holds completely unique possibilities.
Things to keep in mind
• Enter in silence, and begin warming up your body. The warmup is your own time to unwind and arrive in the space. You can lay out on the floor and stretch, sit, crawl, roll around, or simply walk through the space if you like.
* The 5Rhythms are a meditation in motion – it doesn't matter how you move, so long as you keep moving! * You are free to move at your own pace, and in whatever way feels good to you. * The 5Rhythms is a map for getting out of our heads, so we get away from words and practice silence – no talking or texting during the class – let your body speak! * Keep your eyes gently open, and be aware of the other bodies in the room. * We dance barefoot, or in dance shoes - no socks on the dance floor! * There may be stretches of time without instruction. Let the music lead you, and trust your body to move in the way it feels best. * Above all - have fun! ...Excessive seriousness may slow you down.

More info about crystal singing bowls:
Singing bowls produce a harmonization between their vibration and that of the person. Resonance is the principle on which vibrational medicine works. Resonance is the capacity of a certain vibration to produce a response in something with a similar vibration. The vibration of crystal bowls has the power to make atoms vibrate and reorganize themselves in a crystalline structure, which is stronger, healthier and more balanced. The sound will affect the whole individual in a holistic manner, balancing first the energetic body and chakras and then cleaning the auric field. The vibration actually spikes the spinal cord which acts as a strong resonance vehicle sending the waves through the nervous system, cells, tissue and organs. These tones or vibrations bring the individual playing or listening into heightened states of consciousness because of the effect on inter neuronal connections. The sound waves produced by the bowls induce a state of relaxation similar to the practice of long term meditation. While in this relaxed state induced by the bowls the mind guides the consciousness on an inner journey giving sensation of what Zen Masters call “filling oneself up with emptiness”. This state of emptiness gives us the opportunity to see the world and ourselves from a different perspective.
What do people feel:
The people who experience the effects of the bowls describe it as a deep physical and mental relaxation, sensations of the floating and wellbeing. The experience can unblock and dissolve energetic and physical obstructions in the physical and astral body and thus is a therapeutic tool for deep healing. This is because the seven musical notes reverberate in the 7 charkras and the 7 colors of the human aura creating a vibrational bath which emits a natural balancing effect.

Kirtan with the Love Roots
Sunday, March 24th, 2019
Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting with roots going back many centuries in India. It is a primary practice on the path of Bhakti Yoga. The singing is accompanied by musical instruments and rhythmic drumming and the audience is encouraged to participate by chanting, clapping and dancing. In its heartfelt expression Kirtan can induce profound states of meditation and bliss.
We will be doing this offering once every month. This is an opportunity to let go and let your spirit fly without boundaries. As we get older we forget to do things that bring us joy. Dancing, singing, playing. This is what this night is all about.
In experiencing creative outlets, we touch upon our heart chakra which brings us closer to feeling a spiritual presence within us.
Life can make us rigid and heavy and this in turn may disconnect us from the divinity within. By doing Bhakti yoga/Kirtan you may experience a lightness in your being and a new found openness.
Come join us on this magical night of singing, dancing, playing and letting loose. Get inspired. Or just come down and meet the community of pure hearted souls at this studio.
